About

The Alternate Reality Initiative (ARI) is looking for students to participate in this year’s Project Cohort to create an AR (Augmented Reality) application for the Kelsey Museum of Archaeology. As a member of the project cohort, you will be a part of creating a digital, in-gallery experience that incorporates a variety of interactive content, including but not limited to text, 2D images and videos, maps, animations, and 3D models of objects—both ones currently on display and ones of the thousands of artifacts in storage at the Kelsey Museum. The team will be using AR SDKs as well as 3D modeling software and game engines such as Unity to create this app. Past experience in these areas is welcome, but not required.

Who are we looking for?

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas:

  • 3D modeling

  • Mobile UI/UX

  • Web application development

  • Game engine usage

  • Textures & Material creation

However, note that experience in these areas will also be obtained through participation in the cohort. The most critical quality a candidate can have is interest in the Project Cohort itself.

How to apply:

To indicate interest, fill out this form: link.

All prospective Cohort members will be required to complete a XR workshop surrounding tools we expect to use during the Cohort. Information about this workshop will be forthcoming.
